That being said, our company has the same insurance standards that the big companies have - $1,000,000 in general liability and $15,000 for cargo on each truck so you are protected while getting quality service.
So you are thinking of renting a uHaul truck and doing the move yourself with your buddies or hiring a few helpers to move your stuff. Plenty of people move themselves and then hire a company every time after doing so. They underestimate the costs and risks associated with moving, as well as the amount of labor required. Even though uHaul may advertise that their "in-town" trucks are only $39.99 per day, the dollar amount you end up paying them is always much higher. How does that happen? Their advertised price does not include $1/mile of driving, absurd insurance charges, gas, tolls, equipment rentals, parking tickets and taxes. The actual bill for a local New York move will generally be at least $200 (if you manage to avoid a parking ticket). That is still cheaper than hiring us, but now consider the fact you have to drive the truck yourself (beware of truck limitations in New York City) and either trouble your friends or hire "craigslist laborers" to do the move. They will be inexperienced and your stuff will most likely be damaged during the move, as there are many tricks to properly stacking items in the truck. The total bill will probably be close to what you are paying us, while you will spend all day working hard, stressing out, and in the end most likely getting your stuff banged up. What happens if you miss the 5PM deadline to return the truck and equipment? You will be charged for another day and spend more than you would've on hiring us. Trust me - it's not worth your hassle.

Unless otherwise specified, you are expected to pack all of your non-furniture items into boxes. Please pack heavy items into small boxes and light items into big boxes. Do not leave packing for the day of the move! Movers will first load the boxes to clear space for them to wrap up your furniture, if you're still packing while they are working it will create a stressful environment and create delays. You can request 2 free wardrobe boxes for your hanging clothes (additional wardrobe boxes are $15/each), the movers will bring them on the day of the move and you can work on that while the movers start loading. Please try to have someone take care of your kids and pets while the movers are working, it is virtually impossible for the movers to close the door behind them each time they carry something out of the apartment. If your building requires a certificate of insurance, please send the requirements to us at least a few days in advance.
It has become standard procedure for buildings in New York City to require a certificate of insurance before movers are allowed to do any work on premises. We are able to provide such certificate, but we need either a template your building provides or we need to know who the "insured" and "additionally insured" parties are. These requirements vary in each building. Please provide us with this information at least 3-4 business days before the move so we can fax it in advance.
Yes, once your job has been confirmed we will email you a contract in .pdf format for your review. It will include contact information, job number, addresses, inventory and price as well as some terms and conditions on the back. We cover every fragile surface of your furniture in padding blankets and shrink wrap when necessary. Additionally, each crew of movers includes one who knows the "tricks" to arranging things on the truck to make sure nothing gets damaged.
Yes, we have experience in doing full service moves. Full service means that you literally have to do nothing to get your items to your new apartment. A day before the move a crew of experienced packers will come to your apartment to prepare everything for movers arrival. This service is $30/hr per packer with a three hour minimum and includes ALL SUPPLIES. A typical one bedroom apartment will take three packers between three and four hours to prepare, and the cost according to the formula will be $270-$360. If you are looking to get full service move it is really best to schedule an in-home estimate first. Our experienced agent will let you know how many packers are appropriate and how long he expects it will take them to get the job done.
If you schedule a full service move, all packing supplies are included in the price. You can also feel free to take advantage of our special where you can obtain 20 free packing boxes by simply scheduling an in-home estimate. Two free wardrobe boxes are also included upon request with each move.
